This is my final project from the summer Italy course. I decided to base it off of my experience adapting to the italian lifestyle, Being the introverted specimen that I am, I love being engulfed in my big bubble of personal space. Naturally Florence was quite a shock to the system. Crowded bustling streets with over eager vendors tore through my bubble in seconds, leaving me exposed and overwhelmed. The first week all of my senses went haywire, and my much loved silence was a thing of the past. People were everywhere talking and jostling each other. So many smells, from smoky fumes in one whiff to delicious foods in another and to sweaty tourists in a third. Nothing was as I expected it to be and it was a stressful week, slowly however things started to change, I started to recognize landmarks, and learned how to ward off unwanted vendors. Weaving through the masses of people became second nature and much less cumbersome without a map plastered in front of the face. Eventually by the end of our months adventure the city felt like a second home, the people did not feel so foreign, and the great masses of tourists easily avoided by turning down a small side street.
